Here's what coming up on Sundays at HBC during the summer months of June-August.
Summer Sermon Series (10:30 on Sunday mornings)
1 Peter 3:15 commands us to "always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect." As our culture increasingly moves in a dechurched and unchurched direction, we want to equip our members to gently and respectfully make a defense for the faith. Summer will carry a unique outward emphasis outward for us (with outreach events like the Memorial Day Picnic, a youth missions trip to the Dominican Republic, missions reports, a missions conference, missionary visits, the annual 5th Street VBS, and more) and we pray this series will aid us evangelistically.
Summer Sunday Classes (9:30-10:15 on Sunday mornings)
This class will be a basic theology class we are offering for residents of Friends of Sinners. It will also be open to a small number of HBC members. It will be taught by Grant Hewitt and John Hoegg and will take place in Jim Gauley’s classroom.
This class will be the Gospel Project with Pastor Keith and the study will be in Samuel, Kings and the Wisdom Literature. The class will meet in the HLC.
This class will examine various spiritual disciplines, offering practical suggestions for cultivating them on a long-term basis, resulting in a foundation for personal growth in godliness. It will be taught by Tom Pope and meet in the upstairs conference room.
