Mentor Kids
Sadly, most churches, including smaller ones, have in their attendance children who come from broken, single parent homes. Usually these young persons lack the active involvement of a loving father. Sometimes it’s the lack of a mother. Mentor Kids is designed to bring godly male influence into the lives of young boys as well as godly female influence into the lives of young girls who also live with this deficiency. Our first efforts are directed toward the needy boys and girls of our own church. This obviously becomes a greatly appreciated ministry not only to the kids themselves, but also the mom or dad with whom they live. For a few hours each month, the mentees are invited into the home or family activities of the mentor or taken to the park, the zoo, a ballgame, etc. These settings become the context for the cultivation of loving, affirming, character molding, spiritually constructive relationships. This Mentor Kids ministry also seeks to serve needy children in the community and thereby becomes a wonderful opportunity for evangelism.
