Men's Ministry | 33 Authentic Manhood
As many of you have been made aware, we at HBC are about to launch our men’s ministry. It is the goal of the pastors for this to be the beginning of a permanent ministry to men at HBC. With the Lord’s blessing, this should be a very profitable and practical ministry to our men, and also should provide opportunities for outreach to our community.
WHAT: We will be studying and considering the issue of Biblical Manhood. We will be going through a very nicely-done DVD series entitled “33”, from which we will learn about what it truly means to be a Godly man primarily through the perfect example of Jesus Christ. We will gather as a group for breakfast and fellowship. We will then watch one session from the video series. We will then break into smaller discussion groups where we can share and learn together, and enjoy hanging out together.
WHEN: This will begin Saturday October 13, 2012. We will be meeting from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. We will be meeting for 6 Saturdays in a row. The last Saturday will be the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Although this first series will last 6 weeks, this is basically the first installment of the “33” series. After this installment, the plan will be to enter the next phase in the Spring of 2013, and then the fall of 2013 and so on.
WHERE: HBC
WHY: There are several reasons why. Here are three:
One, we want our men to be solidly rooted in scriptures as to what Biblical Manhood is all about. We live in an age in which “manhood” is not properly understood. It can only properly be understood in light of scripture. We want our men to be stronger and Godlier husbands, fathers, leaders, employees, neighbors, co-workers, students, etc. etc. , which is critical for the advancement of the Kingdom of Christ.
Two, we want to encourage a greater degree of fellowship, brotherhood, community and accountability among the men of HBC. We want our men to be “iron sharpening iron”. We want to see our younger brothers in the faith encouraged and strengthened. We want to learn and be encouraged by our older brothers in the faith. This may also be the means God will use to bring some men to himself.
Three: We want to reach our community for Christ. This ministry is not limited to the men of HBC. This will be a great opportunity for us men to invite our friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc., some of whom may not know Christ.
HOW: Sign up on the sheets located toward the back of the gym. We want to get a pretty accurate headcount so we can order the study guides by the end of September. We would like every man who plans to participate to purchase a study guide for $15.00. That should not discourage you, however, from inviting guys who may not have a study guide.
WHO: You have to be a male. Junior in High School and up.
