The purpose of Heritage Kids is to assist parents in connecting children to God, the Gospel, their Family, and Friends. At Heritage, we believe that children are obviously valuable gifts from God. God calls His church to teach children and defend them from evil and danger. Children, like the rest of us, need Jesus’ saving love.
We have fun while we learn about Christ and relate the truth of the Bible to the world in which your kids live. We accomplish this through age-appropriate teaching that shows Jesus to your child in a way he or she can understand.
We also believe that the home is the front line of ministry to children. The responsibility for a child’s spiritual formation rests primarily in the hands of the parents (Deut. 6:4-9). But with that said, we want to walk beside you as you train your children in godliness—providing the best help and resources that we can. You can here more about HBC's vision for ministry to youth and children here and here.
Heritage Kids gathers with the adult worship on Sunday mornings. At Heritage we desire for families to worship together, so we have the children 4 and up with us during worship. At the end of the gathering parents can pick up any children they have in the nursery using the corresponding I.D. Tag they were given at the time of check-in.
Heritage Kids offers classes for ages 4 – 5th grade from 9:30-10:15 on Sunday mornings. We use The Gospel Project for Kids as a teaching tool to immerse our children in a Christ-centered Bible study. This resource follows a chronological timeline of Biblical events—presenting the story of redemption through Jesus like kids have never seen it before! Each week, these stories come to life through video, music, activities and more.
Be on the look out for Journal pages and Big Picture Cards that your child will be bringing home. These will allow you, as a parent, to take an active roll in your son or daughters learning. Use them during family devotions or around the dinner table to start discussions all week long. We encourage you to partner with us as we lead our kids through God’s Word.
Heritage Kids also offers a discipleship program for ages 4 – 5th grade on Wednesday evenings during the school year from 6:00-7:00 pm. This time focuses on equipping our kids to worship Jesus, love others and reach out through Bible lessons, crafts, mission events, and games. The kids are divided into three groups: 4yrs - Kindergarten, 1-3 grade, and 4-5 grade. A typical month will include three weeks of classes and one week of special fun. The kids will rotate between the classes spending approximately 20 minutes per class: Bible, missions (twice a month), music (once a month), and PE.
Heritage Kids has three goals with our classes designed to help us meet those goals.
1. For the kids to know God– Bible time
2. For the kids to develop a love of missions and God’s church – Missions & music. Our mission projects are designed to put our missionaries before the kids as well as local mission projects that they themselves can invest. In music, the kids are learning to love their church through leading in worship. May the Lord bless this with a generation that will love missions and the ministries of the church.
3. Fun and fellowship with local believers– This includes games & special activity nights.
Our nursery is available for children under 4 and is staffed by vetted, trained, and caring childcare workers that members of our church. If you’re visiting for the first time, you will need to fill out a registration to receive a check-in tag and security stickers. The stickers serve two purposes:
• Parent Paging – If we need you during service, you will be given a pager at check in.
• Child Pick-up – You must present your portion of the sticker before we release your child.
We make the care and protection of children a high priority at HBC. A copy of our child protection policy is available upon request.
